Horse World Mourns the loss of John Michael Biggins

UPHA Richard E. Lavery award recipient, John Michael Biggins, 65, of Simpsonville, Kentucky passed away Friday, May 4, 2018, at his home. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Louisville, Kentucky. An icon and trainer of National and World's Champion American Saddlebreds, Biggins was a friend to all and mentor to many young horsemen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Mary Biggins. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Renee' Capelle Biggins, Simpsonville; daughter, Ashley Biggins, Louisville; sister, Kathleen Jones (Mike), Bedford, Texas.

Visitation will be 5-8 P.M. Wednesday, May 9 at the Shannon Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1000 N. Beckley Station Rd., Louisville, KY 40245 with Father Jeff Shooner celebrating. Burial will be in Simpsonville Cemetery.

A reception at the Biggins residence will take place at 1 p.m., following burial. Everyone is invited.

The family requested expressions of sympathy be made to the American Saddlebred Horse Association, John Biggins Memorial Fund.
