Saddlebred World Loses Paul Briney

On Thursday, November 15, 2018 Paul Briney passed away due to complications from several strokes suffered this year. During his lifetime Briney made countless contributions to the American Saddlebred industry. For many years he served as president and manager of the Midwest Charity Horse Show and also served as president of the Illinois Horsemen’s Council.

He and his wife Sally Jo Briney were married for 54 years. Together they bred, raised, trained and showed American Saddlebreds out of their Pratense´ Farm in Chatham, Illinois. The farm remains a family operation to this day.

Paul is survived by Sally Jo, daughter and Pratense Farm trainer Paula, son Rob, daughter-in-law Betsy and grandchildren Lauren and Gage. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 24 from 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. with service to follow at 1 pm at Bisch Funeral Home in Springfield, Illinois.
