Have a piece of equine history that you are ready to part with? Have you created a painting you are ready to sell? The selection committee for the Museum’s 2016 Equine Art, Antique and Rare Book Auction is looking for equine artwork of any breed, in any medium, by any artist, as well as rare books, unique antiques and historic artifacts. Due to the popularity of George Ford Morris artwork, our auction has expanded to include any sporting subject matter by Morris, including, but not limited to, dogs, cats, poultry, cattle as well as advertising posters and programs. Leven previous auctions are $1,793,434. Remember, this is a consignment auction – the Museum is not asking you to donate your items, but rather to consign and sell – however, suitable donations are never refused!
The 2016 auction will be held during the Lexington Junior League Horse Show on Saturday July 9, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at the American Saddlebred Museum’s Showplace for Saddlebreds at the Kentucky Horse Park. A preview party will precede from 11:00 am to 12:00 Noon. Along with the regular onsite auction, this year’s event will again be offering online bidding at liveauctioneers.com, an online auction site with a niche in equine artwork. Results from all past auctions can be viewed on our website, www.asbmuseum.org. The deadline for submissions is March 25, 2016.
