The American Saddlebred Museum is pleased to announce it has been selected to receive a FY2021 Inspire! Grants for Small Museums award from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

“We are thrilled to be awarded this grant,” said Museum Executive Director Jennifer Foster. “Federal grants are very competitive and we are pleased to be one of 60 institutions from across the nation to be selected. This project will increase user access to our collection and create greater knowledge of the history of the breed.”

This grant project will provide funding to hire a librarian to catalog and organize the Museum’s collection of over 2,600 books, magazines, and videos related to the American Saddlebred. Project activities include a library inventory, and cataloging the collection using an online database that is available to the public. This project will help preserve the collection and make it available to the public, equine scholars, and individuals researching equine or family histories. This aligns with the Museum’s strategic plan to increase ease of access and create greater awareness of the American Saddlebred.

The Institute of Museum and Library Services is the primary source of federal support for the nation's libraries and museums. They advance, support, and empower America’s museums, libraries and related organizations through grantmaking, research and policy development. The IMLS vision is a nation where museums and libraries work together to transform the lives of individuals and communities. To learn more, visit www.imls.gov and follow on Facebook and Twitter.
