The American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA) is pleased to announce the election of five new members to its Board of Directors, who will join the Board starting in January of 2017 at the UPHA Convention, which will host the ASHA annual meeting.
Scott Hagan, Emily Lee, Joan Lurie, Evan Orr, and Dr. Owen Weaver were elected to the ASHA Board of Directors for a term of three years, starting in 2017. Also re-elected was current ASHA board member David Mount.
ASHA offered its members the opportunity to vote for new Directors either electronically (2017: 45.4%, 2016: 34.5%) or by the traditional paper ballot during the month of November 2016. The ballot count was certified by members of the ASHA Board for accuracy. There was a 53% increase in voters from the 2016 election.
Returning members of the 2016 ASHA Board include Candida Covino Aversenti, Allen Bosworth, Kristen Cater, Sandra Currier, Leslie Rainbolt-Forbes, Elisabeth Goth, Cheryl Innis, David Mount, Holly Nichols, David Rudder, Donna Pettry-Smith, Jenny Taylor, and Kenneth Wheeler, Jr. New officers and Executive Committee members for 2017 will be elected by the Board at its January 2017 meeting in New Orleans, LA held in conjunction with the UPHA Convention.
The ASHA Board bids a fond farewell to Board Members, Bret Day, Tandy Patrick, Susan Shepherd, and Matt Shiflet. The Board sincerely appreciates their service to the breed.
