The World's Championship Horse Show management announced today that, due to an outbreak of equine herpesvirus 1 (EHV-1) at a recent competition, the following adjustments for the Kentucky State Fair World's Championship Horse Show will apply to any show from the date June 22, 2023 until the end of the qualifying period, July 1, 2023: If a horse has been entered by the closing date of the horse show and chooses not to attend said competition, only the classes pre-entered will count towards qualifying. If the horse was not pre-entered in any class, it will not count towards qualifying.
"Our thoughts are with those effected by this situation and [we] hope this alleviates any concerns over qualifying for our show," said show manager Scarlett Mattson.
