Midwest Charity Horse Show announces judges, class additions for its 80th anniversary

Midwest Charity Horse Show is thrilled to announce its 80th annual show, June 15-19, 2021. Daily performances will be 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., with its distinguished panel of judges: Heather Boodey, Franklinton, N.C.; Sarah Russell, Wesley Chapel, Fla.; Annalize van der Walt, Shelbyville, Ky; and Haley Miller, Fontana, Ks. New classes for 2021 include: Road Horse Under Saddle and championship, Saddle & Bridle Working Western Pleasure and Opportunity Open Western Trail.

Prize lists will be posted to the show's website soon or available by request. New for Midwest this year the show's official Show Secretary, Cheryl Rangel, will be accepting entries electronically through www.gaitkeeper.com.

Midwest offers classes for American Saddlebreds, Saddleseat Equitation, Hackney Ponies, Roadsters, Morgans, Arabians, Half-Arabians and open breeds. Midwest’s Open Breed Opportunity/non-rated classes include: English Pleasure (non-ASB), Park/Harness (non-ASB) and Pleasure Driving (non-ASB) for performance horses. Additionally, the Open Breed classes offer Hunter, Carriage Driving, Western Trail and 12 & Under Pleasure.

Midwest’s 2021 edition will be held in the Coliseum of Champions, once again allowing exhibitors to fully enjoy their favorite village-like horse complex. The new lighting, fans and renovations of this iconic facility make every seat a great one and will only enhance the spectator’s viewing experience. Due to a limited number of stalls available, tack stalls will be limited.

Our longtime, generous supporters enabled the show to donate $7,000 to the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine’s Camp COCO from proceeds of its 2019 multi-breed show. Midwest is grateful for and look forward to its sponsors’ continued support as it is more important than ever this year to put on a show of this caliber. Since its inception, the Midwest Charity Horse Show, an all-volunteer, nonsubsidized organization, has donated its annual proceeds to a Springfield area charity and has selected Camp COCO as the beneficiary since 1988, creating an endowment fund, with a cumulative donation totaling more than $247,000.
