UPHA Chapter 8 Hosts Clinic with Ellen Beard in Murfreesboro, TN

UPHA Chapter 8 will hold a clinic at Marie Bouvet’s Training Stable in Murfreesboro, TN on February 20-21, 2016. Renowned coach and clinician, Ellen Beard, will lead the clinic.

The clinic is open to performance and equitation riders and drivers with any show horse breed (American Saddlebred, Hackney, Roadster, Friesian, and Morgan). Ellen will work closely with trainers and instructors to develop their client’s skills and a plan to reach their personal goals by improving their timing, rhythm, balance and mental preparation. Participants will also learn how to incorporate traditional fitness and weight bearing techniques in their training regime to build strength. Whether you are a 10 & under beginner rider, a show-ring veteran with a five-gaited mount, or have a new roadster pony, there is something for everyone at this clinic.

Ellen is the principal operator for Success in Saddles and has worked in the equine industry for more than 30 years. A Kentucky native, she grew up working with national caliber horses in the heart of show horse country with DeLovely Farm and Cryst-A-Kell Farm, where she trained numerous world and national champion horse and rider combinations. A nationally recognized USEF judge and clinician, Ellen is a four-term member and past co-chair of the United States Equestrian Federation Saddle Seat Equitation Committee and is past president of the International Saddle Seat Equitation Association. She also serves on the United Professional Horsemen’s Association Exceptional Challenge Cup Committee. Ellen worked for nine years as a faculty member of Stephens College in the Equestrian Studies program and holds a Master's of Strategic Leadership from Stephens College. She is currently being certified in Strength and Conditioning through the International Sports Science Association.

Riders and drivers will bring their personal show horse or pony and will be provided a stall and initial bedding, as well as breakfast and lunch both days. You will participate in one small group lesson daily as well as be entertained and educated by a number of speakers throughout the day. The fee is $250 for participants and $75 for Auditors with a 50% deposit required to reserve your spot.
