The Denver Queen City Horse Show is on a roll in 2012!  The prestigious Colorado Saddlebred State Championships and the Centennial State Regional Championship Peruvian Championships are held at the horse show. Judging Saddlebred, Academy and Open classes this year is Billy Jarrell from Versailles, Kentucky. Peruvian Horses will be judged by the honorable Ernesto Sandigo from Yuma, Arizona. The horse show is held at the National Western Events Center, 1515 East 47th Avenue, Denver, Colorado. This grand facility has a large show ring, warm up arena and stalling all under one roof!  Queen City is in its 44th year this year and will be held July 19-21, 2012. Entries close on June 22. Two sessions are held daily at 9:00 am and 6:00 pm. Thursday and Friday nights will open with a grand entry presentation by the Westernaires and Saturday night will open with a demonstration from Praying Hands Ranch (a therapeutic riding school for the handicapped).

The horse show will also hold a UPHA Pink Ribbon Stake Night with proceeds benefiting the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. Celebrants will be honored in center ring during the ASB Five Gaited Amateur Championship class. Many Pink Ribbon items will be sold during the show, including car magnets, lapel pins, hats, and carnations. Barn aisles will be decorated with pink balloons and all exhibitors and spectators are encouraged to wear pink for Saturday night’s State Championship performance.

The 44th Denver Queen City Horse Show is a USEF “A” rated show offering a full schedule for Saddlebreds plus Peruvian Horses, Academy Classes, Open Breed Classes and Equitation. The show features the Colorado American Saddlebred State Championships, Colorado American Saddlebred Futurity, Centennial State Regional Championship Peruvian Horse Show, and also offers a Grand National Yearling in Hand Open Class with $2,400 in added prize money. In addition to the Grand National prize money, the horse show awards over $5,000 in total prize money.

Friday night features the biggest horse show party of the summer. A grand dinner is sponsored by Parker Valley Farms, Amen Acres, Finesse Farm, and Fantasy Farm. Entertainment is provided by the Colorado American Saddlebred Horse Association and a cash bar is provided by the Centennial State Peruvian Horse Club. Tony David the Entertainer will be performing this year, so be sure to bring your dancing shoes! The Colorado Saddlebred youth group, the High Steppers, will also be in attendance and have some great contests planned for the evening! It’s the most fun you’ll have all summer!

Additional cash prizes will be awarded to trainers! Cash awards include $250 to the trainer who makes the longest drive to the show, $250 to the trainer who wins the most blue ribbons at the show, and $250 to the trainer who brings the most horses to the show.  Additionally, a name will be drawn each night following the evening performance for a $50 cash prize. All horse show participants are eligible to win.
