The innovative multi-disciplinary show Cavalia: A Magical Encounter Between Human and Horse, will open for the first time in St. Louis on March 21. Featuring 45 horses of all different breeds, and 38 riders, aerialists, acrobats, dancers and musicians, Cavalia distinguishes itself from other shows that utilize horses by both its training philosophy and its purpose: to demonstrate the beautiful and unique bond between human and horse.

Cavalia explores humankind’s longstanding relationship with the horse, from the horse’s evolution to modern day. During the show, the horses cavort with their human partners in front of a constantly changing digital background projected onto a 200-foot-wide screen. The stage is the horses’ playground; at times they are presented at liberty, and more often than not, they call the shots. Each performance is slightly different as the humans react to what the horses give them that night.

Cavalia’s training is based upon a philosophy of understanding the horses rather than making them understand the human beings around them. It truly becomes a relationship of mutual trust and respect, which is demonstrates both in the show and throughout the entire Cavalia community.

Headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, Cavalia is the brainchild of Normand Latourelle, renowned for his innovative approach to show production. Seen by some 3.5 million people worldwide, the show has visited more than 40 cities across North America as well as European countries such as Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.

Tickets are on sale now and are priced from $54.50 to $99.50. For those with a little extra cash and wanting an extended experience, a Horse Lover’s Package lets patrons tour the Cavalia stables after the show, and a Rendez-Vous Package includes the stable tour, a cocktail dinner reception and more. The packages are priced from $134.50 to $189.50.
