On the morning of February 14, 2014 during the ASHA Annual Convention and Youth Conference, Allen Bosworth, Chief Operating Officer of Erwin Penland Advertising and Chair of the ASHA’s Marketing Committee, unveiled a new and exciting marketing plan and logo for ASHA.
The judges for the Kentucky State Fair World’s Championship Horse Show have been selected. They are: Lewis Eckard, James Nichols, Jack Noble, Barbe Smith, and Jim Taylor. They will be judging all divisions; Mr. Noble will not be judging equitation.
Gayle Lampe is conducting a saddle seat riding clinic at William Woods University on March 21-25, 2014. Riders will ride twice on some days and three times on other days. Barn visits to saddle horse training stables in the area and a variety of lectures will be included.
The following article is based on the findings of Jim and Jenny Taylor, along with Todd Graham for their presentation on Friday, January 17, 2014 at the United Professional Horsemen’s Association Convention. The presentation was directed toward Morgan and American Saddlebred trainers as both breeds show a very similar decline in foal registrations.
For years the American Saddlebred industry has been aware of the declining numbers of foal registrations, and lately the decline in registrations has been evident in the young horse classes at every show in the nation. Even at the 2013 Kentucky State Fair World’s Championship Horse Show, where in the 28 classes offered for 2-year-olds, 3-year-olds, and 4-year-olds there were not enough entries to claim the available ribbons.
Mid-America Saddlebred Horse Club, Missouri’s ASHA Charter Club, will present a two-day riding clinic Saturday, March 22 and Sunday, March 23, 2014. The sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day. It will be held at Janet Green’s Liberty Meadows Stables, Liberty, Missouri.
The Museum will be mounting a very special exhibit in 2014. Oak Hill Farm - A Jewel of the Bluegrass, will open on Friday, February 14, 2014 with a 6:30 p.m. dinner reception at the American Saddlebred Museum’s Showplace for Saddlebreds. The exhibit will encompass six decades of incomparable success produced by Jean McLean Davis’ Oak Hill Farm. Located in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Oak Hill Farm has long been synonymous with world’s champion Saddlebreds and the tradition of excellence begun by owner Jean McLean Davis.
The American Saddlebred Museum is accepting consignments to be considered for inclusion in the 2014 Equine Art, Antique and Rare Book Auction. The auction will be held on Saturday July 12th at the Museum’s Showplace for Saddlebreds in conjunction with the Lexington Jr. League Horse Show. Deadline for submission of consignments is March 24, 2014.
Registration is still open for the UPHA/AHHS Convention, January 16-18 in Chicago, Illinois. UPHA Chapter 10 has worked hard to educate and entertain attendees in the great City of Chicago.
The officers of the Southeast Hackney Association announces the 2014 Annual meeting, dinner banquet and fundraising auction will be held on February 8 in Burlington, N.C. at the Best Western Plus Hotel and Conference Center.
