Matt Shiflet on Too Hot To Tango and the Success of Parting Kiss

Matt Shiflet and Too Hot To Tango. Photo by Julia Shelburne-HittiThere's something special about breeding and raising your own winner, and Matt and Whitney Shiflet know that better than most. Through the years they have had incredible success with their stallion, Tango's Parting Kiss, and on Friday morning at the World's Championship Horse Show, they had even more when Matt rode the filly Too Hot To Tango to the Two-Year-Old Three-Gaited Div. 1 World's Championship title – a filly they bred, raised and trained at their Matt Shiflet Stables in Asheboro, N.C.

Too Hot To Tango is by Tango's Parting Kiss and out of Fresh Cracked Pepper, and her Louisville win was her under saddle debut. Though she burst onto the show scene quite suddenly, her success was not entirely unexpected. From very early on Matt knew she was special, and anyone familiar with the show horse world knows that Tango's Parting Kiss has already sired numerous World's Champions.

Hear Matt's thoughts about this special filly, and the success of Tango's Parting Kiss, below.

NOTE: The two-year-old harness horse that Matt mentions in the interview is There's No Denying, another offspring of Tango's Parting Kiss, who Matt went on to show to the Two-Year-Old Fine Harness Stallion/Gelding World's Championship later that afternoon.
