Illinois American Saddlebred Pleasure Horse Assn. Inc., is introducing a new format for their horse shows this year. All three shows will be three days starting with a Friday evening performance, Saturday morning, afternoon and evening, and Sunday morning and afternoon performances. Classes include the full array of Pleasure and Country Pleasure classes, and now offering Amateur and Open 5-gaited, 3-gaited, and Park, plus Park Pleasure, Fine Harness, Pony, Equitation, UPHA, Academy, and Jackpot classes.
Smoke Hollow Farm in Pittstown N.J., is pleased to announce the arrival of Karen Greenwell as trainer and instructor. Karen is a 6th generation American Saddlebred trainer and brings with her many years of experience. She has worked for top trainers and competitors all over the country, from DeLovely Farm, in Indiana, and Kierson Farm in New Jersey, also at MBA Equestrians and Woodhaven Saddlebreds in Illinois and Cleveland Park Stables in South Carolina.
The 2013 Nebraska Charity Horse Show will once again be held at the Lancaster Event Center in Lincoln, Nebraska on May 30, 31, June 1, 2013. Judging this year’s show will be Merrill Murray from Versailles, Kentucky.
Smith Lilly will sign copies of his new book “Saddle Seat Horsemanship” during the ASHA Convention at the Marriott Griffin Gate Resort. Smith will be available at the American Saddlebred Museum’s Gift Shop booth on Friday, February 15th from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and again that evening from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Some of the finest Saddlebreds offered for sale will be presented at High Caliber Stables on Feb. 21 as the stable plays host to a Saddlebred sales event that is open to the public. Horses from Matt Shiflet Stables, West Wind Stables, Mercer Springs Farm and High Caliber will all be available for viewing.
The Bluegrass Futurity Auction will end on Sunday January 27 at 10 p.m. This is a great opportunity to purchase stud fees to some of the country’s best stallion. Many are way under valued at this time.
Mid-America Horse Show Association’s high-point awards banquet is not your run-of-the-mill trophy distribution event. It’s always fun, fast-paced, upbeat and full of surprises for everyone in attendance, not just those who win the gorgeous trophies.
The JD Massey Classic announces that Donna Pettry-Smith of New Lenox, IL and Liz McBride-Jones of Raeford, N.C. will judge the 2013 JD Massey Classic. The 80th gathering of the event will be held at T. Ed Garrison Arena in beautiful Clemson, S.C. from Wednesday, April 17 through Saturday, April 20, 2013.
Plans for this year’s Chattanooga-Cleveland horse show are being finalized for by the board of directors for the show. This year’s show will be held on June 12-15 at the Tri-State Exhibition Center in Cleveland, Tenn. The Rainbow Riders Therapeutic Riding program will be the show’s charity again this year.
Through the new option of online voting by its members, as well as voting by traditional paper ballots, the American Saddlebred Horse Association has elected new members to the ASHA Board of Directors.
