Saddlebred world bids sad farewell to Jimmie Hite

James S. “Jimmie” Hite, 81 of New Melle, Missouri, died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake St. Louis.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Arnold Funeral Home with Rev. Robert H. Marty officiating. Visitation is from 12 noon until service time Friday at the funeral home.

Once known as Houston’s hometown horse show, the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show has become a world-renowned equestrian event. Each spring, Pin Oak Charity Horse Show welcomes the equestrian world to Houston and will give its exhibitors, sponsors, and spectators a dazzling show from March 21 – April 1, 2012 at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center as it Steps Up and Steps Out for Children.

Next week will by my 23rd consecutive American Royal; I remember going as a kid too.

Constants – no matter the official temperature, it will feel cold … great young horses … barbeque … a social show where everyone enjoys the camaraderie … the very real threat of catching a cold … equitation, lots of equitation … fur coats and overcoats … The Savoy Grill.

Registry Rule Changes Allow Farm Name as Permanent Prefix to Horse Name

At its October 26, 2011 meeting, the American Saddlebred Registry Board of Directors voted to approve the below listed rule changes which are effective immediately.

Saddle Seat World Cup Trial Applications Due Dec 15

Applications are now being accepted for consideration to participate in the 2012 U.S. Saddle Seat Equitation Team Selection Trials.

The Trials will be held at William Woods University in Fulton, MO, on March 31, 2012. A riders’ meeting/draw will be held the evening of Friday, March 30, 2012, and the Selection Trials will take place on Saturday, March 31, with team member announcements that evening.  The shortened schedule allows athletes to travel earlier on Sunday.
